Rare Klaas Art deco "web" pattern Army sword

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

This is a very cool sword with several unique features. Nope not mint, but fresh from an estate auction. This one is featured on a whole page in Angolia's reference so I know it's a rare one. The hilt is gilded with just a bit of wear to the high areas. The "P" guard has a ton of hand work and look at the "Web" at the base of the P-guard! See all those dots in the wed and the languet? Those are not cast but rather added by hand!! The back-strap continues this theme. The center languet has a Wehrmacht style closed wing eagle clasping a swastika in its talons. The grip is atypical black celluloid and is in perfect condition being wrapped with triple brass wire to each of the 5 segments. The wire remains nice and tight to the grip. The plain blade is the longest blade I've ever handled on any sword 37"!! This guy was a giant! The buffer remains. It is overall bright and shiny, grading NM, the only thing that holds it back is a small wave to the very tip. It has a deep stamped maker mark. The scabbard is dent-free with some wear and scrapes. A rare one!
