Japanese Type 98 Army Shin-Gunto with stunning blade

Here's a good example of a worn officers sword. This one has a NM blade Showa stamped signed tang and a beauty wavy temper line.

Yoshida Kaneuji is the smith. He used Showa & Seki stamps and personal seal (Kakihan) on some swords. Also seen one of his using this dating system.

. The tang was discussed on WAF. Thanks Guy for that :). The blade is near flawless. Blade is seated through a multi-piece pierced open tsuba with the tang secured with a bamboo peg. The military type hilt is typical officer quality. It is constructed of a wood base, covered in ray skin with the traditional 3 brass cherry blossoms all wrapped in original brown cloth tape with a twist. The kabuto-gane, (pommel) is copper/brass. The scabbard is wood based with canvas covering and a textured green paint. The scabbard shows finish loss from honest wear. Nicely finishing this is a worn company grade tassel.
