Rare buckle by RZM M4/38 (Richard Sieper & Söhne, Lüdenscheid). It is constructed out of an injection molded aluminum-alloy base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an open winged eagle clutching an Student diamond within its talons on a smooth background all framed in a oakleaf rectangle. The reverse is maker marked “RZM M4/38. It features an intregral catch and aluminum-alloy pin/post sleeve and prongs. It shows minor scratching throughout. The details to the eagle, motto and roundel are superb! The buckle measures approximately 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high. A nice one!
