A 2nd Pattern Wasserschutzpolizei (Water Protection, Harbor and Traffic Control) Mützenadler by FBL. It is constructed out of a die stamped aluminum base that has been gold gilded. The obverse features a police eagle, clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The reverse retains both of its tombak prongs. It's always nice having tombak prongs on cap badges as it is a more pliable metal and is that much easier to assemble on a visor. It is also maker marked "FBL" (Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid). There is a small whole to the talons of the eagle. It measures 2 1/8 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A beauty maker marked example!
