Die Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938. It was awarded for participating in the occupation of Sudetenland and the occupation of Czechoslovakia in March 1939. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts two unclothed men (one has a chain around his right wrist, the other is holding an NSDAP flag on a pole) that are standing on a pedestal that shows a German national eagle. The reverse reads: “1. Oktober 1938 Ein Volk Ein Reich Ein Führer” (October 1 1938 One People, One Empire, One Leader). To the top of the medal is a soldered on loop and ring which holds 8 3/8 inches of red, black and white folded rayon ribbon. The medal measures 1 ¼ inches in diameter. The bronze wash is in beautiful condition and the detail is superb!
