A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by C. Bertram Reinh. Sohn of Solingen. The blade on this one features a nice acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and rooster and hen “C. Bertram Reinh. Sohn Solingen” maker mark! The fitly seated up against the hilt perfectly and the and the tip also comes to a sharp point. The blade rates an Exc+. It has been heavily buffed/re-ground, likely an attempt to clean it. It shows the odd bit of spotting/imperfections and one nick to either side of the cutting edges. The steel based black anodized scabbard is gorgeous! It retains a nice dark and smooth finish. It has one wee pressure mark and continues to remain completely dent free! The scalloped nickel-silver based scabbard fittings look excellent! There are two wee bumps to the ball, yet it continues to hold a nice round shape. All four scabbard screws remain intact and show evidence of being turned. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well, matching the crossguards perfectly in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in great condition! I can see five hairline cracks and there are pressure marks throughout. It is still way better than most of these early ones we come across! The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit! Included with this one is a nice early SS Vertical Hanger. It was put on backwards, which I've often seen.The leather remains in great shape and the steel clip continues to work well. Attached to the clip is the belt/hanger loop as well! A nice assembly. A rare maker!
