Early Japanese Type 30 Bayonet by Matsushita

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have an Early (Variation A) Japanese Type 30 Bayonet by Matsushita. It is an early Type 30 variation with a flat birds head pommel, shaped grips and a hooked quillion. The Type 30 bayonet was designed for use on the Meiji 38 rifle and the squad light machine guns type 96 and 99. The blade, scabbard and hilt are all blued. The single factory bright fuller blade is worn. It has a solid fit and sharp tip! The Arsenal maker mark is nicely executed. It has not been sharpened. It rates NM. The tubular tipped, steel based blackend dent-free scabbard looks fine. The single throat screw remains intact. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hooked crossguard. The hilt is made of blackened steel. The birds head pommel has a well working button, is serial numbered to the top: “60780” and right beside it is the inspectors mark. The wood grip plates are held securely by two rivets. They are minty. It measures 20 ¾ inches long. A very nice piece!
