Really a beauty pattern for the discriminating collector. The blade is unmarked yet we know from the unique boar-head clamshell this is pattern is WKC 1051, (thanks Gary), 90% of these are unmarked. The uncleaned triple etched surface is in excellent shape being a nice crisp frosted etch that is nice and dark. The spine pattern is a leaf motif. There are a couple very minor scuffs. You will have to hold the blade just so in the sun to find them. The blade measures 10" and rates an NM. This is a beauty, real black so the pattern just jumps right out at you. You guys "in the know"understand exactly what I'm talkin' about. Original brown leather buffer pad intact. The brass based hilt has nicely patinaed from 70 years of age. I'm temped to clean this and let that gilt out, but as always, I leave cleaning to you. The clamshell has a boar motif that is the most stunning I have ever seen. Look at he hand work here. Perhaps to most detailed Forestry I've has the pleasure to own. An oak-leaf theme runs through the D-guard terminating with the classic deer hoof. Perfect celluloid grip plates have 3 acorns and oak leaf gilt brass inserts. All scabbard fittings are again brass with gilt. These components have sub-assembly #'s under the brass staples. Look at the lower fitting , this was all hand done!! There is no wear to the leather and just the most minor age. All the stitches are intact. finishing this nicely is a period senior portepee. A wonderful example of the best quality Forestry available in the period.
