A nice piece here by a seldom seen maker. The blade does have a nice dark motto and maker mark, the crossgrain also looks good and the fit is excellent. The blade rates an NM. The anodized scabbard is in good condition. There is some surface oxidation. It remains dent-free. The solid nickel fittings are in excellent condition with even wear. The ball is perfect. All of the screws remain intact and unturned. The large solid nickel crossguards are evenly worn and still remain in great condition. See how they have a "brassy" look? Evidence of the high copper content in these early guards. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "He" (Hessen). The light colored oak grip is in excellent condition, with an excellent fits! It is completely crack and chip=free. The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed. The roundel is a bit aged and retains all of its enamel. A great piece, in need of a good home!
