Austrian Model 1895 Bayonet

Made by Ernst Busch, Solingen Germany for the model 1895 Austrian Mannlicher Rifle, which was issued in limited numbers to German troops. Blade and hardware bright, cutting edge up; wood grips, blued steel scabbard, Austria pattern tan leather frog. Busch stamping on blade, W 17 on blade spine; 6555 stamp cancelled on crossguard; 7725 etched on crossguard. Ref: “The German Bayonet, pg. 82”, also, “Bayonets from Janzen’s Notebook, 97-3”. It’s a relatively scarce bayonet issued only to German troops that were assigned to fight with the Austrian Army. There’s an entire page in “The German Bayonet” devoted to specifically this model. The frog is post-war.
