Beauty Early Japanese Navy Dirk

This is a high quality 1883 patterned WWII Imperial Japanese Naval officer dirk with unusually light Shark-skin. This example is of early construction with machine made 10" blade. The blade shows a dot of age to the reverse. No sharpening or damage, a nice example. The crossguard is brass with traces of gilt remaining. The grip is triple brass wire wrapped over faux ray skin. All grip wire and fittings to include the brass cherry blossom on either side are intact and quite nice! The saya (scabbard) is wood with polished shark skin cover. It is flawless. Both fittings have nice detail. The lock works perfectly.
