RAF Officer Sword with Portepee

Royal Air Force Sword, as carried by RAF Commissioned Officers, was adopted by the Air Ministry in 1925. Rare to find and rarer in this condition. The sword has a single-edged straight etched blade with open etch panels for presentation engravings. The riccasso has a inserted brass slug correctly marked "Proved". I can not confirm the maker but some on the forum think this was attributted to E. J. Whitaker of Chatham. Finally this is numbered 03339 on the spine. This number is consisent with the pre-1936 dating. The gold-plated brass hilt has a "GRV" with the male crown dating this 1925-1936. The grip is faux white ray-skin. A hand enhanced gold-plated brass cartouche bears the eagle emblem of the RAF. The scabbard is made of leather with gold-plated brass mounts. Finally finishing this is an original faded and a bit frayed portepee. This is a rare sword and Rarer even in this condition.
