Here's a textbook Robert Klass Army Dagger! The bright, upgraded, plated blade on this one is beautiful!! It is tightly secured, with a perfect tip and beautifully executed "Kissing Crane" Robert Klaas Solingen maker mark! The blade rates a solid Exc+. It has some plating loss and spotting. For those of you who know about Klaas daggers If I were to take this apart, (I don't) yes, the blade on this one has a hole drilled in it as it should. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the hand enhanced bands and random pebbling throughout. The scabbard retains both of its original throat retaining screws and remains completely dent free! And for you guys who know about the secret astrix marked on the bands yes, those are there! The silver plated crossguard is in excellent shape with beautiful patina. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns to burnished backgrounds. The trylon grip on this one has a wee hairline and a few small chips at the frrule that you could cover up with a portepee! This one is also multi-toned having a dark yellow back side and an orange to the front. You can just tell this has sat upwards like this for years! You've got to love it when all of the patina matches like this one does! An awesome example, so take good care of this baby! Oh, so what's with the leather? I don't really know for sure but this came from the Vet's family this way and that's how I leave 'em.
