Paul Weyersberg Postal Protection Dagger

Direct from Vet's family to you! The blade has a perfect tip, perfect fit and a beautifully executed, acid etched, Paul Weyersberg maker mark. The blade rates an Exc. There is age grey throughout, other than clean off some old cosmoline I've not tried to clean it. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The black enameled painted scabbard body remains completely dent free, with some paint loss and crazing throughout. The scabbard fittings are in great shape matching the hilt and chain in color and wear! All five screws remain intact. The chain is in good condition with 9 links to the top and 12 to the bottom terminating at the correct "DRGM" marked clip, that is in well working condition. The clip can spring out of the keeper, (see final pic) this is from the spring pushing for the past 80 years and is common on these. The black wood grip is chip and crack-free. It's awfully hard to find these with no damage to the grip. The unique postal insignia is properly pinned, proud of the surface, just as it should be. The enamel to the swastikas is 100% intact. The bottom of the crossguard is not serialized and they are not all stamped. There is a theory that the unserialized examples were for officers and the serialized were property of the postal service. Whatever either configuration is fine. Nope, it's not mint but it's real. This is a nice early example that would look great in your collection!
