Made at Springfield Armory for the Model 1873 trapdoor Springfield rifle. This has a triangular spike blade and the correct blued scabbard. This is the early version with brown leather belt loop made at Watervliet Arsenal with a clear "A.R." Smith inspector stamp and brass US rossette.
