A one quart capacity canteen with its cup and Khaki canvas cover. The aluminum canteen is slightly concave to its reverse and retains its black bakelite screw cap, attached between its top and a flange brazed to the base of the neck by a short metal chain. The side of the canteen is engraved "U.S. Massillon Al. Co 1945", while the bottom of the cup is engraved "NA". Its Khaki canvas cover has felt padding to its interior and two extended flaps to its open top, each of which have a lift-the -dot snap which mates with a corresponding stud to the upper body of the cover. The snaps and studs are of blackened brass. There are eight vertical reinforcing stitching lines to the front with "U.S." in black ink stamped beneath the stitching. The vertical webbed canvas loop sewn to the reverse has a top and bottom vertical reinforced strap, as well as a horizontal brass belt hook fed through it. The M-1941 cover is quite faded with a ink stamped maker mark which i can not read.
