German WWII > Belt Buckles > Luftwaffe >
A 1st Pattern - Luftwaffe Koppelschloß by J.D. Julius Dinnebier of Lüdenscheid. Instituted 1935. The buckle is constructed out of a die struck aluminum alloy base that has been silver washed. The obverse features a centrally placed 1st pattern ‘droop tail’ Luftwaffe open winged eagle clutching a swastika in one of its talons, on top of an oval pebbled background, that is all encircled by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and all lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The reverse is maker marked “J.D.” and displays an integral catch and a aluminum pin/post sleeve assembly that remain in great condition! It measures 2 7/16 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches high. Slight dulling to the high points. A nice maker marked buckle!
