NSDAP Orts Group Leader Visor Cap by 20

A Schirmmütze für Ortsgruppenleiter Hersteller 20. This is a Form 3 with a gold bullion chin cord, silvered eagle and genuine leather sweatband. This was likely for the Stutzpunktleiter (Support Leader) as only 2 ranks were to wear the gold cords: the Ortsgruppenleiter himself (usually the mayor/burgermeister), or his second, the Stutzpunktleiter (Support Leader). I believe the Ortsgruppenleiter whould have had the silk interior lining. The visor is constructed out of a light tan cotton tricot with a dark brown wool center band and light blue (hellblau) waffenfarbe piping. Attached to the obverse is a die stamped, nickel based, silver washed 1936 pattern NSDAP cap eagle. The eagle is above a die stamped multi piece cockade that has been silver washed and contains solid black and red translucent enamel. The front also features a brown lacquered visor peak with a cross hatched brown-red underside. To the sides are two peened on multi piece aluminum/steel gold gilded pebbled side buttons that hold the golden interwoven bullion chin cord in place. The interior features a leather sweatband that has perforations to the forehead and a silk bow tie to the back. It also has a red cork-like strip to the inside that is deteriorating. The interior is lined in a brown/ and brown-red rayon/cloth lining. The prongs are visible to the interior. The base of the lining has a clear diamond moisture shield and a black ink stamped “9”. Underneath the sweatband is a brown/white “Tuchmütze” (Cloth Cap) oilcloth RZM tag that is numbered and maker marked “20”. The exterior is overall in very good condition only light age, the odd hole here or there and soil spot. A nice example to add to your collection!
