A Rare - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/102 1938 - Franz Pils & Söhne of Wein. The blade on this one has been sharpened and shows heavy age greying/spotting throughout. The stamped “RZM M7/102 1938” maker mark looks good. It was obviously stamped on an angle as the end of the 2 and 8 are light. It has a solid fit. The blade rates a Exc. The original black leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, aluminum flash coated, black enamel painted scabbard is in great condition. It holds 70% of its original black painted finish and remains dent free. The folded over brown leather strap retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well! The leather is in wonderful condition! The hilt is constructed out of a steel base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating is 80% intact. It shows minor oxidization. The two, black checkered, bakelite grip plates are in near perfect condition secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. The obverse grip plate has a small wiggle to it. To the center obverse of the grip has a glued-on original replacement HJ diamond. When I got it there was no insignia (it was de-nazified). This one came from the veteran’s family. A rare maker and an inexpensive option!
