A Fallschirmschützenabzeichen der Luftwaffe im Etui by IMME/JMME of Berlin. The Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge was awarded to those who had successfully completed the paratrooper training course, consisting of physical and psychological tests along with six qualifying parachute jumps. The two-piece construction badge features a die struck tombak based and gold gilded eagle with a die struck nickel-silver based wreath. The oval shaped obverse depicts a diving Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika within its talons, and is above by a blackened half laurel leaf and berry, half oak leaf and acorn wreath. The reverse displays the correct; two pinched rivets, the soldered on tombak barrel hinge, soldered on nickel-silver round wire catch and round wire nickel-silver pin. Typical ‘cold shuts’ to the wreath. It measures 1 5/8 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches high. The award comes housed in its appropriate issue case. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated grained blue leather. To the front is a round gilded steel spring loaded push button. To the back is a gilded steel, staggered, piano hinge. To the very top is a gold foil unique stylized script which reads: “Fallschirmschützen= Abzeichen”. The interior-bottom of the case is constructed out of a pressed cardboard base that is covered in a blue purple velvet material that outlines the pin, hinge and catch assembly. The interior top is constructed out of a purpleblue satin material and has an underlying pad. It is in wonderful condition. The case measures 2 16/16 inches wide and 3 3/16 inches deep and 15/16 of an inch thick. A great assembly, a gorgeous display piece!
