United States Army Musicians Sword, Civil War Vintage, by The Ames Manufacturing Co., Chicopee, Mass. Straight 28" bright blade with one large fuller. Age greyed. Solid, cast-brass grip assembly consisting of globular-shaped pommel, ribbed grip, and large knuckle-bow finished with a finial, red felt buffer pad is in place. Scabbard is black leather with brass drag and throat piece with a frog-stud. Leather is crazed and cracked. Obverse blade is stamped “US TKL 1864”. Reverse blade is stamped “AMES MFG. Co., CHICOPEE MASS” in a banner. The knuckle bow is stamped “JH”, the underside of the crossguard is stamped “CSL” and scabbard drag is stamped “TKL”.
