Cased 25 Year Faithful Service with Award Document

A Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen 2. Stufe für 25 Jahre 1938 im Etui mit Urkunde. Awarded to Oberschullehrer Johannes Mecklenburg. The 25 Year Faithful Service Cross was awarded to all officials, employees, and laborers at any level of the public service (local, regional or national) who completed 25 years of service. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains black enamel work. The obverse features a pebbled pattée style cross that has an oak leaf wreath visible through the corners and a centrally placed black static swastika / “Fur Treue Dienste” (For Faithful Service) to the reverse. To the top is a soldered loop and ring which holds approximately 4 inches of folded blue rayon ribbon and a stitched on well working tombak based gilded pin assembly. The award measures 1 5/8 inches wide and tall. The enamel work remains 99%+ intact. The frosting is gorgeous as you shine it in the light. The award comes housed in its issue case. The case is constructed out of pressed cardboard with a simulated red, pebbled, leather covering and red felt inlay to the interior. There is an impressed silvered foil encircled “25” to the top. To the very bottom is some penciled in text and a date. The case measures 4 inches long by 1 15/16 inches wide by 5/8 inches thick. Accompanying the award is the issue award document. It is constructed out of a black ink printed paper. It measures 8 3/16 inches wide by 11 9/16 inches tall. The document has printed gothic style script which reads: “Der Führer und Reichskanzler hat mit Erlaß vom heutigen Tage Als Anerpennung für 25 jährige treue Dienste das silberne Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen verliehen. Berlin, den Derstaatsminister und Chef der Päsidialkanzlei des Führers und Reichskanzlers.”. Typed in is the rank, recipient and location: “Oberschullehrer Johannes Mecklenburg in Glückstadt” along with the date it was awarded: “26. September 1938.”. It is also stamped with Otto Meissner's seal and signature. There are two holes to the left-hand side to allow it to go into a binder. It has been folded in half both ways. A great assembly being sold exactly how I got it.
