Here we have a Kriegsmarine (Navy) Sports Shirt Insignia! The sports shirt eagle (Sportabzeichen) was introduced on July 4th 1935 and was to be worn on the front centre chest of the white sleeveless sports shirt. It is constructed out of a machine embroidered blue and white cotton on a white rayon base. The rectangular shaped obverse depicts a blue Kriegsmarine eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons on a half-moon white cotton base and a white rectangular rayon base. It shows one spot of soilage. It measures approximately 11 inches long by 5 5/8 inches tall. A nice Navy piece!
