Direct from the Vet's family, this is exactly as it was received! Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Horster of Solingen. The blade has some age and gray. The etched maker mark is nicely executed. The fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates in at Exc. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based and nickle plated. It has a dent at the bottom like it was caught in a car door or such, it's wore to the reverse. It depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. There is heavy wear and some surface oxidation I have not tried to clean. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and burnished aluminum pommel both look excellent. The trylon grip has wear and wee scratches but co cracks or chips. The springy brass wire wrap remains tightly intact. Included is a decent set of delux hangers with the under-the-tunic loop and a nice portepee. A great rig that has always been together.
