Wow here's one for someone looking for something special! The blade is a beauty with full crossgrain. Really about as good as it ever gets. Rates NM. The ricasso has been nickel-plated as these always are, and the blade is unmarked (just as it should be). The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The nickel plated hilt fittings are in great shape, having only a bit of plating loss but really not too bad at all. Look at the crossguard roundel, it's personalized, "D.R.K. Feldfübrer Dr. W. Schenk Bad Sulza Thür.". Not a jeweler done job but still very nice. The h in his name looks to be a b, and I believe the Thür is short for Thüringen. Bad Sulza is a resort area east of Leipzig. That's enough to start a research project if you are into that. The pommel screw cover has at some point been turned but not for a very long time. The pommel will rotate a few degrees, but I'll not disassemble this to tighten it up, that I leave to you if you care. The orange grip is perfect. The scabbard plating coverage is easily 96% with some plating loss. There are no dents or splits. Both throat screws remain intact. Includes the original portepee it came with. Nice
