A good looking piece! The 7 3/4 inch long, single fuller, plated blade on this one looks to have been cleaned and buffed at some point. The etched "E. Pack & Sohne Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. The tip comes to a perfectly sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc+. It shows surface scratches throughout. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It shows some minor wear, scratches and spotting yet it remains completely dent free! I'm looking at the paint and this may well be a repaint, when and by who I have no idea but there's a bit of "orange peel" effect to it. It continues to hold 99%+ paint coverage. A throat retaining screw remains intact and the ball is perfectly round. The steel based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks good. The platting is all intact. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in near perfect condition. Both plates are tightly secured to the hilt with the textbook unique Pack spanner/ nut assembly. The button continues to work well! This comes with a crazed but functional earlt single rivet frog. A great example direct from Vet's family to you.
