A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by E. Pack & Sohne of Solingen. Perhaps the most interesting Hitler Youth Knife manufacturer... E. Pack was one of the preliminary manufacturers of HJ knives. They never received a RZM code yet they produced HJ knives all the way into 1939. Doing their best to keep up with regulations, they added the RZM mark without the M7 code. Manufacturers were allowed to use up old stock so likely, as large of a manufacturer that they were, they had massive amounts of old stock and used it until they had no more. I purchased this from the veteran’s family. When I got it, it was so encrusted in rust I had to restore it in order to preserve it.

The stamped maker mark “E.P. & S. Solingen”, patent “Ges.Gesch.”, etched “RZM 1937” and etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto all look great! It has a solid fit and a sharp point. The blade rates Exc+. It has been slightly sharpened, cleaned and shows age spotting and surface scratches throughout. The leather buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based anodized scabbard has been cleaned, and shows surface scratches and oxidization. It remains dent free. The folded over blackened leather strap retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work. It is “LFS” marked. The obverse strap at the edge of the scabbard throat has ripped through. The leather has been cured. The hilt is constructed out of a steel base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating remains 70%+ intact. It shows oxidization. The obverse black checkered bakelite grip plate is in excellent condition. The reverse has a crack through it. They are secured by two solid nickel-silver rivets. To the center obverse of the grip has a HJ diamond with 95%+ enamel remaining. One for the right buyer!
