Early NSKK Dagger by Josef Munch

A Model 1933 SA Dagger (Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch) by Josef Munch of Brotterode. The blade on this one is well worn. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and maker mark are both nicely executed! It's been retipped by about 3mm, (the width of 3 dimes) fit remains nice and tight! This blade rates an Exc. It shows age pitting and heavy spotting throughout. The steel based, black repainted scabbard looks great. It has a few odd scratches, when it was repainted I do not know but it's not the typical thick lacquer we most often times see from period repaints. It continues to remain dent free. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball shows a wee kiss to the very bottom. All four screws and ring remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect! The crossguards are also nickel-silver based. The reverse of the lower crossguard is gau marked: “Wf”. The brown hardwood grip looks great! It shows minor honest period wear but no chips or cracks. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99% of its enamel. This one rates 7 out of 10 for rarity. Oh, Ok, so someone just asked about the buffer pad. So these were not issued w Buffer pads AND some people chose to add them. Looking at this on it is the case. I believe it to be added by the owner. Don't like it? Rip it off The blade to crossguard fit will still be perfect... and that's all I got to say about that.
