Always nice to see a transitional piece! The blade on this one looks great! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and transitional "RZM M7/66" / "Eickhorn Solingen Original" maker marks are all dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible from hilt to tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates NM. Now I'm looking at this and believe it's so well preserved because someone has applied a clear-coat lacquer to the blade. You can hardly tell but under the right light you can see it. Now this could likely be cleaned off but i would recommend you just leave it.The steel based, brown enamel painted scabbard looks good. It continues to remain completely dent free and hold 99%+ paint coverage. It shows a chip but that's it. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated crossguards remain nice and bright matching the scabbard fittings quite nicely. The brown hardwood grip looks great! No cracks or chips! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A great transitional example!
