A solid example here! The bright blade on this one has minor age, evidence of cleaning and stain. The dark and crisp, acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "F. W. Backhaus Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. The steel based, black re-painted scabbard body has been there! It shows paint loss and lots of bumps and small hits. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great and match the crossguards in color, wear and patina. The top fitting has some marks to the bottom edge where someone probably took it off at some point, most likely to re-paint it. The ball has the odd wee bump yet retains a nice round shape. All four screws are intact, two are replacments. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau marked "He". The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The brown grained wood grip looks good. There are two hairlines, one north of the roundel and another running up from the reverse guard. No flakes or chips. The solid nickel eagle is beautiful detailed and has a perfect fit! The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel!
