Here we have a NSDAP Political Leader Belt and Buckle by RZM M4/40 (Giesse & Schmidt, Ruhla), that was instituted in 1940. The buckle is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been gold gilded. Rare as most are alumminum. The round shaped obverse features a centrally placed NSDAP 1939 pattern eagle without-stretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons, on top of an oval textured backing and is surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The slightly concave reverse shows an embossed maker mark that reads: "RZM M4/40". It also shows a pronged on aluminum-alloy catch and rectangular hook, keeper and prongs. The buckle's gold finish has been mostly absorbed by the zinc. The buckle measures approximately 2 ¼ inches in diameter. Rare to find in zinc.
