Guys this is a very interesting dagger that I’m proud to bring to the market. So this is inscribed “”In treuer Kamaradschaft Josef Einoder Sturmbannfuhrer”, (In faithful comradeship Josef Einoder Sturmbannfuhrer). The previous owner was as enthralled with this one and commissioned, likely one of the best researchers, (Robert McDivitt) to prepare a packet on Josef and his career. He also went to the time and expense to have the packet translated to English. You rarely see this and for us English speakers this brings the whole thing to life! Just to share a few highlights: Josef was a Sturnbannfuhrer when this was presented and rose to the rank of Standartenfuhrer in 1939; He was a WWI Vet winner of several decorations including the EKII and sustained 4 injuries resulting in 40% disability; Like many of the disgruntled WWI Vet’s he joined the Deutscher Frontkampferbund, (German Front Fighters League); Finally, again, typical of these guys, he was naughty and the Leibstandarte became aware of some unpaid loans and he was suspended till the matter was resolved; The were also some incidences of drinking and carrying on which eventually resulted in a divorce. Lots more, actually 35 pages! The whole packet is like ¼” thick. So the dagger itself is an early 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Romuso of Solingen. This one rates 6 out of 10 for rarity on McSaar. The blade on this one has been cleaned and looks good. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and maker mark are both, crisp and beautifully executed! Some crossgrain remains. The fit remains nice and tight! This blade rates Exc++. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard has some minor oxidation. It continues to hold the some of its original factory lacquer and remains completely dent free! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball is undented. All four scabbard screws remain tightly intact. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “HO” (Hochland), yes, it matches his service records for his service. The brown hardwood grip looks good. There is a hairline running north from the roundel and another running up from the lower obverse left crossguard fit. It can only be found by turning the grip just so in the sun. The solid nickel-silver eagle retains beautiful details and has a good fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel.

Rating:    Exc++
Item Number:    SA-25452
