Well here a nice matching example by Horster! The plated bade on this one looks good! It retains a nice finish with some scuffs midway and plating loss from where it was factory shortened, (they all have this). It has a perfect fit and sharp tip! The stamped spine proof stamp and maker mark are all correctly executed! The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. This is a reissue, at that time the markings to the reverse of the crossguard was removed and restamped "765" as was the markings to the reverse of the scabbard. Pls do not ask me to show you the back of the scabbard cause it's next to impossible to see back there and harder to photograph! Trust me, it's correctly marked. The black leather scabbard body looks excellent. It has some wear and age yet retains all of its stitching. The four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! The early brass based nickel plated scalloped scabbard fittings look great as well! They are perfectly dent-free and the plating remains intact and they are both tightly secured with the staples. The scabbard snugly fits the hilt. The brass based, nickel plated hilt looks great! It depicts wonderful detail throughout, with the oak leaves and acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! 99% of the plating remains intact with just a bit of loss to the high areas. The hilt matches the scabbard in color and wear. The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed police eagle is properly pined and still shows some nice detail. This piece also comes with a nice, supple, well marked K98 frog. A great example of a matching police bayonet.
