Issue Case for a 1st Class Iron Cross with LDO paper insert. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated black grained leatherette. The top features a silver foil outline of a 1st Class Iron Cross. The interior lid is lined in white satin and has an underlying pad. The bottom interior of the case is constructed out of a cardboard base that is covered in a pearl fibrous felt material that outlines a pin, hinge and catch assembly. To the very front is an oxidized round gilded steel push button and the back features a piano hinge under the leatherette. Both continue to work very well. The case measures 2 11/16 inches wide and deep and 7/8 of an inch thick. Included in the case is the original LDO issue paper. It reads: “Die Herstellung von Orden und Ehrenzeichen unterliegt der Kontrolle der Prasidialkanzlei. Der Hersteller ist verpflichtet,mangelhaft gelieferte Stucke gegen einwandfreien Ersatz umzutauschen.” (The production of medals and decorations is subject to control of the Prasidialkanzlei. The manufacturer is obligated to exchange unsatisfactorily supplied strikes against perfect replacement.). A nice example!
