A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by H. Herder of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and “H. Herder Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and nicely executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates Exc+. It only shows spotting and age greying along with the common surface scratches. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard is beautiful. It shows the slightest spidering and scratches yet it remains completely dent free and retains 70% of its original factory lacquer! Beautiful! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The obverse fitting has a wee pressure mark. The ball continues to retain its original round shape and all four scabbard screws remain tightly intact. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “He” (Hessen). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent! It only shows minor pressure marks throughout along with a wee crack just above the roundel. The solid nickel-silver eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A great piece!
