A Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold by 100 - Rudolf Wachtler & Lange of Mittweida. he Gold Wound Badge, instituted September 1st 1939, was awarded for five or more times wounded, loss of limbs, total blindness, “loss of manhood”, or severe brain damage via hostile action. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been gold gilded and lacquered. The oval shaped obverse depicts an embossed profile of a mobile swastika, above an M35 pattern helmet, which is above two crossed broad swords. This then lies on a pebbled field and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath which is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie. The full back reverse has the correct steel round wire pin, stamped hinge and crimped tombak catch assembly. The base of the catch is correctly maker marked with the Präsidialkanzlei number “100” (Rudolf Wachtler & Lange, Mittweida). All of the components remain in well-working condition. The finish has been absorbed by the zinc. It measures 1 3/4 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide. There is a slight gold tinge to the one edges.
