NSKOV (Nationalsozialistischer Kriegsopferversorgung) Ringkragen für Fahnenträger im Etui. The NSKOV Gorget was worn by flag bearers in the NSKOV, an organization made up of war wounded, widows of fallen soldiers, parents and orphaned children of fallen soldiers, and members of the SA and Nazi Party who were wounded in street fighting during the NSDAP’s rise to power. It is a multi-piece construction, made out of a chrome plated die stamped nickel base and gilded brass. The heart shaped obverse features a centrally placed NSKOV emblem (which consists of a black mobile swastika on a white roundel on top of a black Iron Cross which all lies on a vertically pointed broad sword and an encircled oak leaf wreath) which lies on a gilded sunburst pattern. There is a round gilded flower like button to both top corners. All of this lies on the chrome like backing that has a beveled edge. The reverse features a black wool cut out and three prongs, one of which is holding the chain. The one corner is slightly bent. The gorget measures 4 7/8 inches wide by 5 3/8 inches tall. The gorget comes housed in its issue case. The case is constructed out of pressed coardboard with a black simulated leather covering. The lid on the case has partially broken and been repaired.
