A J2 Luftwaffe Flugzeugführerabzeichen im Etuiby C. E. Juncker of Berlin. The Luftwaffe pilot badge was awarded upon completing flight training and received their license. It is constructed out of two pieces of die struck nickel-silver that have been black burnished and silver washed, all behind a protective lacquer coating. The obverse features a blackened centrally placed massive swooping Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The eagle is the attached, at the wings, to a half laurel leaf and berry, half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse is correctly maker marked “C.E. Juncker Berlin SW”. The reverse also features a soldered-on barrel hinge, soldered on round wire catch, round wire pin and two rivets. Beautiful details throughout. It measures 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches tall. The badge is housed in its appropriate Juncker style issue case. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated grained blue leatherette. To the front is a round steel push button. To the back are is a tombak staggered piano hinge, with a steel hinge pin. To the very top in gold foil Gothic style script it reads: “Luftwaffen = Flugzeugführer = Abzeichen”. The interior-bottom of the case is constructed out of a pressed cardboard base that is fully covered in a blue velvet material that outlines the pin, hinge and catch assembly. The interior top has an underlying pad that is covered in a blue satin. There are scuffs and marks throughout the exterior, along with one pressure mark to the base. The case measures 2 7/8 inches wide by 3 3/16 inches deep by 15/16 of an inch thick.
