A Minty - Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by J.A. Henckels of Solingen. The blade on this one is beautiful. The stamped “J.A. Henckles Solingen Zwillingswerk” maker mark, “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark and acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto are all dark, crisp and beautifully executed. Crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates a solid NM. It shows minor age grey/spotting and runner scratch marks. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard is in excellent condition! It retains 97% paint coverage and it remains completely dent free. There is the odd spot of oxidization. The brown scabbard leather is in excellent condition! It has a minor crack to the top end. It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 99%+ of its plating. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite and are in perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The HJ diamond retains 99%+ of its enamel. A gorgeous piece sure to please!
