A sweet piece! The bright blade on this one looks good! The crisply stamped WMW Waffen maker mark is beautifully executed. The blade is clean with just one "nail catcher" that I have not stoned out. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates a solid Exc++. The original blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based blue pebbled, leather scabbard body remains in excellent condition! It has the odd pressure mark/scuff yet it retains 98% coverage and has a nice seam! The silvered steel scalloped scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed with age. The fittings are tightly secured with all five original screws! The aluminum chain has 10 lower and 6 upper ringlets that ends at a well working "Ges. Gesch. OLC" marked clip. The hilt looks good! The four gold gilded sun wheel swastikas retain the majority of their gold and are somewhat faded! The grip leather remains in excellent condition! It shows period age wear, scuffs and toning. The 3 wire wrap remains tightly intact. A fine piece directly from the Vet's family.
