Beauty 2nd Model Luftwaffe Daggers by SMF

SMF truly made some wonderful 2nd Model Luftwaffe Daggers! The more desirable plated blade on this one looks great! It has a beautifully executed "SMF Solingen" maker mark, with a perfectly stamped proof mark just above it! It has a perfect tip and solid fit. The plating looks good as well, giving it a nice mirror like finish! The blade on this one rates a Exc+/Exc++. There is some age and clouding. The original blue pebbled buffer pad remains intact. The steel based airplane grey plated scabbard looks good, there is some age towards the tip. It shows minor spotting but that's it. It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless retaining screws remain intact! The correct aluminum bands perfectly match the crossguard and pommel quite nicely. The burnished aluminum SMF Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum pommel is beautifully hand enhanced to the sides and has those two proud gold gilded swastika you want to see, surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. 95%+ of the gold gilding remains intact! These are just beautiful and make for a display the others never can! The early trylon grip has aged to a burnt orange over time being one tone darker to the obverse -nice! It is in near perfect condition with no cracks, chips or splits just normal period wear. Peek to the reverse and you can see the initials "LP"crudely period carved in. How do I know it was, "period done" you ask? See how it's darkened to the background? You will not have that if you put those initials in now or even in the past 50 years. Try it, not on my dagger, use one of my competitors!! LOL and you will see new rubs are lighter. It requires time and UV over time to darken this stuff. Sorry I digress. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. Finally finishing this is a period portepee. A quality matching SMF piece!
