Japanese Type 95 Army NCO Samurai Sword by Tokyo

Here we have a worn example of what is becoming a hard find. This is a Tokyo First sword produced under the Kokura administration. The 26 1/4" inch machine made blade shows some age and a "nailcatcher". It is correctly "to" marked to the right of the serial #. As with all Tokyo Arsenal blades the numbers are read with the cutting edge down. The blade is rating Exc+. The fit is nice and tight and the tip is perfect. The scabbard has been repainted few times the last coat being a black. It's got scrapes and lots of wear. Really I have no idea when this was repainted. It has honest wear from period use, however remains dent-free. The throat is stamped 3422 matching the blade. As with all known examples of the Tokyo sword the scabbard throat retention screw is to the reverse. The Tsuba is steel style. The cast grip is repainted gray showing honest wear and I seen no evidence the sword has been disassembled. The fuchi is nicely marked with the Suya, (harp) corporate logo, a Tokyo First inspection mark and arsenal mark. The grip exhibits the correct Tokyo "wrap pattern". So the repaint hurts this but it's got great bones, if you are looking for a matching example to restore this might be the one!
