An Early Textbook Model 1935 - Wehrmacht Heer Dolch by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.) of Solingen. This one has some great features with all matching textbook early WKC parts, a tapered tang and a slat grip! The blade on this one has been buffed. The acid etched Knights Head “WKC Solingen” maker mark remains visible. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates an Exc. It has been buffed/heavily cleaned and shows where the pitting was originally, along with surface scratches throughout. The blade likely needed the cleaning. The large leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The exterior of this piece is wonderful with all matching patina. The steel based, nickel silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands! The scabbard remains dent free. The two throat retaining screws remains intact. The nickel silver plated wkc eagle crossguard provides beautiful details throughout the eagle’s head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns throughout. All matching hand enhanced fittings! The early slant orange trylon grip is a nice feature! It has two wee cracks to either side and pressure marks. No chips. Nice color contrasts. This piece comes with an appropriate portepee. A solid early example!
