Unmarked - Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Bronze by Sohni, Heubach & Co. of Idar-Oberstein. It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc base that has been bronze washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse is correctly maker marked “S.H.u. Co.” and correctly displays a soldered on sheet metal hinge, soldered on oval plate round wire catch and a round wire pin. The cathc is broken off and pin broken, likely when this was ripped off some infantry POW. The finish has been absorbed by the zinc It measures approximately 2 7/16 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. Nice!
