An Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Carl Schmidt Sohn. The blade is tired suffering age gray and dulling. It has been sleaned and the crossgrain is mostly gone. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "Carl Schmidt Sohn A.-G. Solingen" maker mark are clearly executed! The blade rates Exc. The dent-free brown anodized scabbard looks good with thinning of the finish down to the base metal from use. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are in great shape. The ball remains has a good hit to the bottom. All four screws remain intact! The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards are also in great condition and match the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gruppe stamped "S". The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect! The hardwood grip has a smooth finish and looks excellent! No chips, cracks or splits! Just the common pressure marks. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 99% of its enamel. Overall a solid example that will surely look great in your collection!
