An early model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Friedr. Aug. Schmitz of Solingen. A rare bird, rating 9 out of 10 on McSarrs SA rarity rating! The blade on this one is bright and it looks likely someone tried to sharpen it as there's some scuffs. I say tried, because it's not sharp. It has a dark and beautifully executed "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and rare Solingen maker mark! The tip looks good, the fit is nice and tight but there is some age spotting to the blade as well as evidence it's been cleaned along with some fine scratches and scuffs. The blade rates Exc/Exc+. The brown anodized scabbard has lots of factory lacquer and some evidence of wear throughout. It remains completely dent-free. The scabbard fittings look great, matching the crossguard in color and patina. The reverse is serialized "12668". The throat has been replaced and is a bit misfit. The ball has a few bruises on it and the bottom is banged in. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is good. The reverse of the lower crossguard reads "Ha". The grip / crossguard fits are great. The multi-toned solid redwood grip has cracks. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed with a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 100% of its enamel and has a perfect fit but has age darkened. You hardly see this maker mark and for you guys looking for a rare one, this one's for you!
