Here we have an excellent Silver Infantry Assault Badge by Carl Wild! The oval badge is constructed out of a die struck, zinc base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse of the badge shows a flat full back with an embossed "CW" (Carl Wild, Hamburg) maker mark. It has the correct soldered buntmetall; sheet metal hinge, round wire round oval plate catch and round wire pin assembly! They all remain in well working condition. It shows minor pebbling to the zinc finish yet the silver wash is mostly eaten away. The details look excellent! A fine example here for the right collection! See p.116-117 of "The IAB" by Weber. Nice!
