An Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Neidhardt & Schmidt of Solingen. A fairly rare piece, rating 7 out of 10 on McSarrs SA rarity rating. The bright blade on this one is in excellent condition! It depicts a dark; acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and Neidhart & Schmidt maker mark! Now the maker mark is a wee light towards the edges, this is very typical of this maker, not sure why but have seen this before and nothing to be concerned with. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit perfectly sits in the crossguard! It has a few minor spots throughout that I have NOT tried to clean. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++ w. good crossgrain. The brown anodized scabbard shows heavy wear and most of the anodizing is worn off. There is a small pin-prick type hit to the reverse you can feel with your fingers. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are in excellent condition! The ball is perfect. All of the screws remain intact and one appears to be a replacement. The scabbard / crossguard fit is excellent. The solid nickel crossguards are in excellent condition as well, matching the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "Fr". The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect. The lacquered red hardwood grip is lightly worn with normal pressure marks and wee bumps. There is a tiny hairline running north from the roundel. The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed and the SA roundel retains 99% of its enamel! A nice untouched piece!
