A Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by SMF (Solinger Metallwarenfabrik Stoecker & Co.) RZM Contract Code “RZM 1198/38 SS”. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 1198/38 SS” (SMF, Solingen) SS contract number are both beautifully executed! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates a solid NM. It shows minor surface scratches/runner marks. The steel based black painted enamel scabbard body on this one looks good! It has minor surface oxidation along with normal wee scratches and small chips from period wear. It retains 98%+ paint coverage! The plated scabbard fittings look good! they are small areas of oxidation and lifting but no dents and the ball is perfect. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated crossguards are in rough shape showing lifting to the finish and the lower is cracked to the center, it will be fine. The grip to crossguard fits look ok for an RZM. The grip is black died hardwood and looks good. It has a wee flake to the upper obverse right corner and the reverse upper shows rubs. The nickel eagle is nicely detailed and has a near perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit!
