Luftwaffe Officers Brocade Belt Buckle by Assmann

This piece would truly make for a wonderful display! It is constructed out of a multi-piece die struck/stamped, aluminum base that has been silver washed, with a tri-pinned on tombak based and gold gilded 2nd pattern Luftwaffe eagle insignia. The obverse depicts a centrally placed gilded Luftwaffe eagle above a silvered circular pebbled background that is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse shows a crimped on catch and rectangular hinge assembly. It is clearly maker marked "A" (F. W. Assmann & Sohne, Lüdenscheid). There are three pins that hold the eagle in place that are visible to the back. The silvering and gold gilding beautifully shine in the light and it shows a wonderful detail throughout! It measures approximately 2 1/8 wide by 1 15/16 inches tall. A prized buckle!
